The council will review budget guidelines and development process for the 2021-22 fiscal year. City staff will present proposed principles and policies for creating next year's budget, while the Lift Up Richmond coalition will share their budget priorities.

This budget discussion comes as police and community safety issues have dominated recent agendas, appearing 35 times in the past year including as recently as March 2nd. The community coalition's priorities may reflect ongoing conversations about public safety funding and community investment.

Council members will provide feedback on the budget framework during the meeting. This early review sets the stage for formal budget deliberations later this year.
