The council approved supporting Kaiser Permanente providing emergency funding to Doctors Medical Center to keep the hospital open while it searches for a new owner or partner. Ten residents spoke during public comment, all addressing the importance of Kaiser's emergency funding for the struggling medical center. The measure passed 5-0 with Bates and Rogers absent.

If the hospital closes, residents would lose critical healthcare access in the community. The emergency funding would serve as a bridge while Doctors Medical Center works to find a permanent solution for its financial difficulties.
